About Multay
Our Home Deep in rural Sussex, England, lies the heart of our business, located
on a farm in a number of unique rural buildings built around the late 1500’s.
This is our home, our engine room driven by our Managing Director, Jeremy Taylor, and the passions of our dedicated staff.
Our Roots
John and Jeremy Taylor established the Multay International Group of Companies in the UK in 1989.
Born from humble beginnings in an outbuilding in Scaynes Hill in West Sussex the company began manufacturing furniture to sell to retailers in the UK.
As the recession hit the UK during 1990 the company searched for new outlets for its products and discovered the reproduction furniture it sold had a "high perceived value" which was of interest to auctioneers in the UK. The auction house-selling route blossomed. Production had to be moved to Indonesia to keep up with over 200 auction house accounts in the UK and northern Europe.

Our subsidiary company PT Multay International Indonesia set up in 1991 was one of the first foreign owned subsidiaries companies in Indonesia. Customers eager to buy from a reputable source purchase full container loads directly from our factory in Jepara, Indonesia.
Today satisfied customers from around the globe use our direct container program to increase their margins and miss out the dreaded middleman. Multay now supply fine hand made furniture to wholesalers and retailers around the globe.
In early 1998 the company eager to diversify its product range began scouring Eastern Europe for a suitable factory to manufacture traditional oak furniture. After months of fruitless searching we decided to start from a green field site and build a furniture factory from scratch. SC Tayker International another fully owned Multay subsidiary now sells its oak products across the UK and in the USA. We also have stockists in Japan, South Korea and Australia.
Getting it right is important to Jeremy Taylor the energetic Managing Director. He believes in creating the best product and providing it at a fair and real price.
